Asian-Americans have been trying for a long time to get recognition in America’s racial panoply. They’ve tried all sorts of things, and have long identified the problems with America’s cultural perception of their ethnic population. They have fought lots of battles for recognition, for better awareness, and all kinds of things.
But all it took to get some spotlight was a sports star.
You know why? Because that’s America. And America loves its sports more than it loves social discourse.
